Ales Dzianisau and Ales Kirkevich, members of the Belarusian Association of Journalists in Hrodna, were summoned to the police station to provide explanations regarding a story aired on the Belsat TV channel. The story told about the opening of an exhibition at the Museum of History of Religion. As a result, the KGB ordered to launch a probe into the appearance of the story. The police are expected to complete the check by March 27. The journalists do not rule out that they may face administrative charges under Article for the illegal production of information materials.
Hrodna human rights activists say the fact of harassment of independent journalists is part of a campaign of systemic destruction of independent media in the region.
