Activists of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) want to get the officials permission to hold a demonstration in the city center.

The stated purpose of the event is the protection of labor, social and political rights of citizens of Belarus, a protest against the Decree №3 «On prevention of social dependency", as well as the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity of Workers in the struggle for their rights.

The organizers of the event chose the public garden 40-hoddzia pieramohi as the action site. In the case the permission is obtained, the demostrators will proceed along Leninskaya Street up to Slava Square. The intended number of participants is 500 people.

Chairman of the Lenin
skidistrict organization BSDP in Mahilioŭ, Dzmitry Liuntou, notes that the city's social democrats haven't filed applications for mass events for quite a long time already.

“We know that the
authorities have designated a reservation for the opposition at the city outskirts, at “Khimik” stadium. We have never come and won't come there for our rally, because May 1 is a holiday for all working people, and it should be celebrated in the central streets of the city, not in the suburbs, where there are no people, no houses, no cars. This holiday was established by workers who fought for their rights and eventually laid the groundwork for the emergence of social democracy,” says Mr. Liuntou.

Let us remind that during the last tow years Mahilioŭ authorities haven't authorized any mass events with the participation of the opposition, even at the officially designated site, at the stadium "Khimik" in Chelyuskintsy Street, 64B.
