Bychaŭ police express dissatisfaction with Internet publication
Bychaŭ police demanded from Mahilioŭ resident Natallia to sign that he had no relation to a publication about one of its police inspectors at the website of the Human Rights Center “Viasna”.
Several days ago Bychaŭ policemen paid a visit to her home. The reason was her appeal to the Mahilioŭ Regional Prosecutor's Office concerning the inaction of one of their officers, who had refused to help her, and the subsequent publication of the information about it on the Internet.
“I wanted to write a complaint to the police that my ex-husband had illegally divided the house and plowed the adjacent plot of land without my permission. My appeal was ignored, as a result of which I had to appeal to the Mahilioŭ Regional Prosecutor's Office. According to the law, 2/3rds of the house belong to me, the rest – to my husband. However, he decided that the entrance to the house must belong to him and I must get there through the window,” says Natallia.
When the woman came to the police, she was told that the police inspector was absent. The woman was given the number of his mobile phone. However, when she phoned the inspector said he was sleeping and he would not deal with her case. He didn't even pass the case to anyone else. Instead, he told the woman to get home through the window and threatened that he would draw up a violation report on Natallia if the entrance door would be broken.
The woman points that at the moment of the appeal she was on the 9th month of pregnancy, but this fact was ignored by the police. During the latest visit the police officers only tried to find out who had advised the woman to appeal to the prosecutor's office. Instead of answering, she advised them to punish their officer according to the law and not to disturb her by shallow talks.
