Freelance journalist in Brest faces fresh administrative charges
Freelance journalist Alina Litvinchuk is facing new charges under Article 22.9 of the Code of Administrative offenses, namely working with foreign media without accreditation.
Ms. Litvinchuk has received a copy of a police report saying that the journalist interviewed an opposition activist Alena Kakhovich. The interview was later posted on the website of the Polish-based Radio Racyja. The charges say that since Alina Litvinchuk was not accredited as a journalist in Belarus, she violated provisions of Article 36 of the Law “On Mass Media”, as she was involved in “illegal production of media products”.
Since the beginning of the year, Alina Litvinchuk has been twice fined on similar charges. Another administrative case is yet to be considered by a court.
