Baranavičy: Yadviha Rubtsova visits her husband in prison
June 3 Yadviha Rubtsova, wife of political prisoner Yury Rubtsou, visited her husband, who is currently held in jail No.6 in Baranavičy. This is the first meeting of Mrs. Jadviha and her husband after the trial, which declared Yury Rubtsou guilty of evasion of serving punishment of restraint of liberty (Art. 415 of the Criminal Code), and punished him with two years of medium security colony, taking into account the unserved term of punishment.
“First, I went to the Pružany court and Judge Mikalai Repikha allowed us to meet. The same day I went to Baranavičy and wrote a new appeal to the head of the remand prison No. 6 in order to get a permission for the meeting. The meeting took place the same day and lasted from 2 to 4 p.m. We talked on the telephone through a glass. Yury is quite cheerful and told me that he was feeling better after stopping the hunger-strike, and was preparing to appeal the verdict, which he regards as unlawful, at the Brest Regional Court,” said Yadviha Rubtsova.
Mrs. Yadviha expressed a sincere gratitude to Baranavičy human rights defenders for legal and organizational assistance in arranging the meeting with her husband.
