Homieĺ: human rights activist asks to recognize him a victim in criminal case
June 13, there expires the two-month term since the instigation of the criminal case concerning the fact of sending pornographic materials to the Belarusian state agencies from the hacked e-mail account of the human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka, sudalenko.mail.ru.
Today the human rights activist has appealed to the regional department of the Investigative Committee with the request to find him a victim in the criminal case.
Let us remind that all activists who have access to the IP-address from which pornography had been sent to the district tax inspection and the regional department of the Investigative Committee, have been questioned. After the end of the two months of the preliminary investigation the investigators must either present criminal charges or suspend the investigation until they establish the identity of the person who congratulated female workers of the aforementioned state agencies in such unusual way.
In his written petition to the investigator of the Investigative Committee Leanid Sudalenka stated that he had been a public person for more than 15 years, heading the NGO "Legal Initiative" and providing legal assistance to affected citizens for the protection of civil and political rights. His activities did not go unnoticed by the security services – on the Internet there appeared a site with defamatory and false information about the public activities and personal life of the human rights defender.
After Leanid Sudalenka engaged in the protection of a Homieĺ resident sentenced to death and his mother, he started receiving threats addressed to him and his children. The attempts to identify the editors of the website brought no results – the police, refusing to do it, sent the human rights activist to England, where they said the web-resource was registered.
"I am convinced that this provocation was organized against me personally for trying to identify and bring to justice those involved in slander on the Internet, who have already proceeded to the commission of criminal offenses (death threats to me and my children, breaking the e-mail and the account at the social networking website "Twitter", sending pornographic materials from my IP-address on my own behalf,” argues Mr. Sudalenka.
"Taking into account the fact that I had no access to my hacked e-mail and could not control iton the day of sending the pornography, and that the criminal offense has caused me a significant moral damage, I ask the investigator to recognize me a victim in the case,” summed up the lawyer.
The human rights activist has no doubts that the slander and threats on the Internet, hacking his e-mail and sending porn to state agencies are links of one chain, aimed at discrediting him in person, as well as his human rights activities.
