Mikalai Dziadok gets transferred to prison union and sent to work

As it follows from a letter of political prisoner Mikalai Dziadok, cited by the website abc-belarus.org, the bureaucratic protractions surrounding his transfer to the prison unit are over.

“The day when I was to have been released [from the penal cell – ed.], I was added three days there (immediately after a talk with my lawyer). Then I was assigned to the 21st unit. The following day I started working (on Saturday the working hours last until 2 p.m.). I was directed to making pallets, was appointed the work rate and was threatened with punishment cell for failing to implement it. I was issued with prison clothes and a bar of soap.

Today is the day off, that's why I am hanging out on the street, absorbing the sunlight and looking at sky without bars for the first time after the three years in prison. Everyone is waiting for the amnesty here, only I am calm in this regard.”

May 12, Mikalai dziadok was transferred to colony No. 9 in Horki, known for its inhuman regime. The following day, May 13, he was transferred to the penal cell, where he spent 5 days. One day after, on May 19, he was again put in solitary confinement in the penal cell. Due to the extremely low temperature there he suffered the whole night and asked to be transferred to another cell, but was refused. In the morning on May 20 he cut his belly and hands, after which he was sent to the medical unit. After receiving the first aid there he was sent back to the same cold cell, where he was kept until May 26.

Mikalai Dziadok has served 4.5 years for alleged hooligan actions towards official buildings and was to have been released on March 3, 2015. However, on February 26 the Leninski District Court of Mahilioŭ sentenced him to another year in a maximum-security colony under Article 411, "willful disobedience to the administration of penitentiary institution" April 30, the court of appeal left the sentence in force.
