Human rights Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine: Number of refugees is growing, there is shortage of humanitarian aid

Volunteers of the Human Rights Humanitarian Mission in the Ukraine and the volunteer organization "Station Kharkiv" urge civic organizations and activists to join the campaign to help the displaced from the area of the anti-terrorist operation in the Ukraine.

"There are many immigrants in the Kharkiv region. They live both in Kharkiv and in smaller towns – Izyum, Merefa, etc.”, said the coordinator of the mission Dzmitry Salauyou.

According to the official data, the number of migrants in Kharkiv exceeds 100,000. According to some journalists, it is several times larger, as many of the immigrants don't register officially – they just move to their relatives or get jobs. Moreover, some people can better solve their problems on their own, as charitable organizations and initiatives provide them with just minimal support.

As reported by the Belarusian volunteers “Station Kharkiv” conducts a questioning among the refugees in order to find those who are in the most miserable condition. First of all, these are children with small children, people with disabilities and families that have no employed members. The volunteers intend to issue such people with cards for free receipt of foodstaffs and first need items in specialized stores.

"The most popular items are items for child care. There are hundreds of small children and women who are about to give birth. Therefore, children's clothes, strollers and diapers are in a great demand,” says Zmitser Salauyou.
