Two Belarusian activists, Yan Dziarzhautsau and Leanid Autukhou, joined the volunteer work as a part of the Human Rights Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine, which has been operating in Kharkiv for a week already.

Sine the morning of June 10 the volunteer center of the NGO "Station Kharkiv" has been full of immigrants who have come to receive humanitarian aid (diapers for children, food parcels and clothing). Belarusian human rights activists condicted a survey among the displaced from the combat zone concerning the work of the welfare centers in different districts of Kharkiv. Sometimes the migrants shared their concerns about employment, bureaucratic red tape (for example, the need to obtain certificates from the war zone) and high prices for rental housing. Of course, the search for housing is the main problem, because it is expensive, and refugees usually have little money, as well as few opportunities to find a job.

The children whose parents received aid at “Station Kharkiv”, were happy to spend time with the Belarusian volunteers reading books, drawing pictures and talking.

More information about the work of the Belarusian volunteers can be found at section "Human Rights Humanitarian Mission in Ukraine" on our website or at the Facebook account of the mission.
