The political prisoner wrote it to his wife Maryna Adamovich. She received a letter from her husband and talked to him on the phone, Radio Racyja reports.

Maryna Adamovich says Mikalai Statkevich still doesn't have neighbours in his solitary confinement cell despite threats of prison officers. According to her, her husband received with a delay a parcel with medicines that was sent at the beginning of June.

“He told me he yesterday received the parcel with medicines that I sent on June 4 from Mahilou. The delivery took 15 days though the distance between the post office and the prison is about 2 kilometres. I don't know what they do. It's good that Statkevich didn't need medication urgently.

Mikalai Statkevich also wrote about provocations against political prisoner Mikalai Dziadok, who was thrown into a punishment cell in the correctional facility in Horki allegedly for violating prison rules. According to Statkevich, it is a popular method of provocations: “Inmates are usually allowed to go to bed one hour early, because they have only five minutes to make the bed in the morning. So, some prefer to get up earlier. But political prisoners can be punished for the formal violation of prison rules.”

Mikalai Statkevich is the only candidate in the 2010 presidential elections who is still in prison. He was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment in May 2011 for organising mass disorders on the election day. International human rights organisations recognised Statkevich as a political prisoner.

The politician began to serve his term in correctional facility No.17 in Shklou, but was transferred to stricter prison No.4 in Mahilou for three years in January 2012. Statkevich returned to Shklou on 12 January 2015 and got two warnings for violating prison rules in the first two days. The politician may face a new prison term.

Mikalai Statkevich was tried in correctional facility No.17 on May 4. He was sent to a prison for the rest of his term (1 year, 7 months and 15 days). The politician was transferred to prison No.4 in Mahilou on May 6.
