Baranavičy: civil society activist wants to analyze peculiarities of collecting signatures for Lukashenka's candidacy
June 30, Mikalai Charnavus, a civil society activist from Baranavičy, filed a written appeal for his inclusion in the electioneering team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The same day he handed the appeal to an officer of the general department of Baranavičy City Executive Committee.
“In my appeal I pointed that I know the electoral law well enough and had a great personal experience of collecting signatures not only during elections, but also during various public initiatives and campaigns. I also stated that if I become a member of the electioneering team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka there will not be a defect signature of an elector, and even agreed to head his electioneering team in Baranavičy. I stated my intent to collect the greatest number of signatures in his support in the Brest region without allowing a single inaccuracy in the electors' signatures,” stated Mr. Charnavus.
He added that he had never participated in collecting signatures for pro-government candidates, but now wanted to analyze the behavior and priorities of the electors who put their signatures in support of the nomination of opposition and pro-government candidates for president.
In 2010 Mikalai Charnavus also filed an appeal about his inclusion in the electioneering team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, but was rejected.
