Salihorsk enterprises are instructed to collect signatures in support of Lukashenka's candidacy

Local human rights activists have received information about the order to the enterprises of Salihorsk district to collect signatures of voters for the nomination of the candidacy of the incumbent head of state for the presidential elections.

Signatures are usually collected by staff ideologists and heads of units of the pro-governmental trade unions, included in the electoral team of Mr. Lukashenka. For instance, at the JSC “”Salihorskhandaĺ” each collector needs to collect 13 sheets of signatures, i.e. 208 signatures. For this sake, all workers were told to take their passports to work.

On the other hand, passports aren't demanded by signature collectors at street pickets. Later on, the needed information is obtained by the authorities from the passport offices.

Human rights activists regard this as a clear employment of the administrative resource, a flagrant violation of the electoral law putting the candidates for presidency in absolutely unequal conditions.
