Picket of solidarity with political prisoners held in Brest

The action was carried out by members of the initiative group for nomination of Siarhei Kaliakin a candidate for presidency, as well as by activists of the Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry.

The picketers were wearing T-shirts with the inscription "Freedom to Mikalai Statkevich" and told the local residents about the fate of political prisoners in Belarus. According to activists, ordinary people do not have enough information about what is happening in the country and know little about the prosecution of opponents of the current government.

"Many are reigned by fear: people do not dare to openly express their views on the situation in Belarus”, said one of the participants of the picket. “However, there is nothing criminal and illegal in voicing one's opinion and demanding that the authorities implement their duties.” The action went without incidents.
