Opposition activist Illia Dabratvor says he has found in his mailbox a letter sent to him from the United Nations Human Rights Committee. It contained information relating to the objections of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to a complaint filed by the activist. The envelope had been opened and had no postal stamps on it, says he.

I got the impression that the KGB is not aware of what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes to the UN, and what is sent back to Belarus. Why then open the envelopes sent to me? Especially that the state has sent the UN its objections to my complaint. By and large, it turned out that one hand does not know what the other one is doing,” says Illia Dabratvor.

The activist says he is not going to complain, because he sees no point.

Meanwhile, the confidentiality of correspondence is guaranteed to citizens by the Constitution and the national legislation.
