Video blogger detained by KGB in Mahilioŭ
Yauhen Hlushkou, who runs a video blog about local events in Mahilioŭ, has been detained when filming a memorial sign outside the KGB city office a week before the official opening.
According to him, on December 10 he witnessed a surprising unveiling of the memorial sign. He said that a large number of people, including representatives of local authorities and law enforcement agencies had gathered in front of the State Security Committee building.
Yauhen Hlushkou wsitched on his video camera, and then he was approached by two police officers and escorted into the building. Later there appeared KGB agents, who asked him to delete the video. According to the blogger, he was held for 15 minutes.
It is possible that the informal opening was due to the involvement of a large number of KGB employees, who did not want to appear in the media.
