The term of remand prison detention for the activist of the Tajik organisation 24 Group Shabnam Khudoydodova detained in Brest has been extended for 2 months.

As a human rights activist Raman Kisliak previously told BelaPAN, the citizen of Tajikistan Shabnam Khudoydodova was detained on July 13 at the central railway station of Brest during the border control, while going to Poland. After it was established that Khudoydodova, had been put on the international wanted list by the authorities of Tajikistan, she was passed to the Brest Transport Police Department for further investigation.

After detention Shabnam Khudoydododva filed a petition to the Belarusian authorities, asking to grant her asylum. The procedure of her extradition to Tajikistan was suspended until the question about her status resolved.

The human rights activist pointed out that, according to the information of the border guards, Shabnam Khudoydodova was detained as she was internationally wanted for extremist activities on the territory of her country.

“The fact that Khudoydodova didnt engage in extremist activities can be easily verified. She joined Group 24 already on the territory of the Russian Federation, where she used to live for the last years. Since then, she has never been to Tajikistan. All she was doing was just criticizing the Tajik authorities for their policy,” noted Kisliak.

He emphasized that Tajik authorities had declared Group 24 an extremist organization back in 2014. Since then, a number of its activists have been detained, kidnapped or murdered.
