Minsk court fines more protesters against police violence

The Court of Lieninski district of Minsk continued yesterday hearing the administrative cases of persons involved in a protest against police-related violence staged in front of the Supreme Court building on January 30. Three more protesters, UCP leader Anatol Liabedzka, Volha Mayorava, and Mikalai Kazlou, stood trial on charges of taking part in an unauthorized mass event (Art. 23.34 of the Administrative Code).

As a result, the judge ruled to fine Anatol Liabedzka 10.5 million rubles. Mikalai Kazlou was also punished by the same fine. Volha Mayorava was sentenced to a fine of 4.2 million rubles.

The other persons involved in the protest stood trial on February 11. The Court then convicted Sviatlana Yakshyna, Dzianis Krasachka, Natallia Harachka, Ales Makayeu, Nina Bahinskaya, and Maksim Viniarski.

On February 12, the court of the Maskoŭski district fined BCD member Vital Staurovich 3,150,000 rubles for involvement in the same protest.
