Stas Kanavalau, who was detained during a brutal dispersal of the Critical Mass cycling event on April 29, has been released from the detention facility. He has not faced formal charges yet, but was forced to sign a commitment to appear for interrogations as part of a criminal case opened following the incident.
Another person held after the case was opened, Dzmitry Paliyenka, has been left in custody. He is likely to face charges by the end of the week.
Both may be accused under Art. 364 of the Criminal Code, “violence or threat of violence against a police officer”.
Four more detainees were released shortly after the detention. They faced charges of violating traffic rules and resisting police officers.
