At least 10 persons have been formally charged with preparing riots during the Freedom Day demonstration on March 25. Meanwhile, six people have been released, including four Young Front activists.

The detainees face charges under Part 3, Art. 293 of the Criminal Code. All of them are currently held in the KGB prison in Minsk.

Some persons detained in the case are yet to face charges. Part of them are held in the Interior Ministry’s detention center.

The KGB said on March 22 that it detained 18 people over plans to organize street riots. Eight more were detained later. The detainees are members of the Young Front opposition group and a Babrujsk-based sports and military club called Patriot. Others are former members of an organization called Bely Lehiyon (White Legion), which ceased to exist more than 15 years ago.
