Invitation to the presentation of an alternative human rights report
In the run-up to the 124th session of the UN Human Rights Committee, which will be held in Geneva on October 8-9, Minsk will host the presentation of an alternative report by the national human rights coalition on the implementation by the Republic of Belarus of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The report will be presented on Monday, October 1.
The human rights defenders will brief the media on the procedure of considering the periodic report of Belarus and the report of the Belarusian human rights community, update them on interaction of NGOs with government organizations, dwell on the problems of discrimination and the prospects for the adoption of anti-discrimination legislation, the issue of torture and other cruel and inhuman treatment. The presentation will also examine the situation with the prohibition of forced labor and the freedom of opinion and information.
