TUT.BY chief editor Maryna Zolatava convicted and fined $3,825
The Zavadski District Court of Minsk announced the verdict to TUT.BY chief editor Maryna Zolatava accused of omission of an executive.
Judge Aliaksandr Petrash pronounced her guilty and sentenced to a fine at a rate of 300 base values, or 7,650 rubles. BelTA's legal costs amounting to more than 6,000 rubles will be recovered from her.
Before the entry of judgment into legal force, Zolatava will remain under travel restrictions.
Commenting the verdict to journalists Maryna Zolatava admitted that had not expected such a lenient sentence, given that the prosecution asked for a thrice as big a penalty.
Her further professional activity is not prohibited.
Let us recall that on February 25, the public prosecutor in the "BelTA case" Julia Karchahina recommended imposing a fine of one thousand base values on Maryna Zolatava.
