The activist believes that his right to peaceful assembly violated by a decision of the Leninski District Court of Hrodna, whose Judge Alena Piatrova fined him for active participation in a mass event.

22.07.2014 Court in Homel evades consideration of police abuse complaint
Yury Rubtsou, an opposition activist of Homel, received by mail a ruling by the Maskouski District Court. In his complaint, the activist asked to prosecute the police officers, who on April 26 took his shirt and then brought him to court topless, as well as to oblige the law enforcement to return him his T-shirt reading “Lukashenka, Resign!” and “Arrest me! Why? I am against Lukashenka”.

Viktar Parfionenka, a freelance journalist from Hrodna, who has been over the past few years contributing to the Belarusian Radio Racyja, has filed six applications for an official accreditation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, and each time he was refused. Viktar Parfionenka is going to apply for accreditation for the seventh time. The last refusal argued that the journalist allegedly failed to attach a copy of his passport, although he says he did send a copy. Now the journalist has made a written list of all the attached papers.

After a probe sought by the wife of prisoner Piotr Kuchura, Liudmila, the Mahiliou interdistrict department of the Investigative Committee refused to open a criminal investigation into the illegal actions of the administration of penal colony No. 15. Liudmila Kuchura has appealed the decision to the City Prosecutor.

Aliaksandr Kuzmin, a civil society activist from the town of Belaaziorsk, Brest region, has lodged a complaint with the Supreme Court to appeal against a written warning for activities on behalf of an unregistered organization “Tell the Truth”. Earlier, the Brest Regional Court refused to reverse the warning received by the activist in March 2013 from the prosecutor of Biaroza district.

17.07.2014 Brest Regional Court turns down appeal by Biaroza defenders
On July 14, the Brest Regional Court considered an appeal by Biaroza human rights defenders Tamara Shchapiotkina and Siarhei Rusetski, as well as local civil society activist Tatsiana Tarasevich. The claimants asked to reverse the decision of the Biaroza District Court, which confirmed a ban on a picket scheduled for March 25. They also urged the court to send the case for a new trial by another judge.
