03.11.2007 ‘Perspective’ Activists Ask Permit for 19 November Meeting
According to the chair of the republican NGO Perspective Anatol Shumchanka, at present the main problems of entrepreneurs are connected with the enforcement of presidential decree #760 on 1 January 2008. Since that time individual entrepreneurs will not be able to employ workers except for close relatives. Even then the maximal number of employees is three.

11.10.2007 Vitsebsk: Entrepreneurs again Ask to Permit Meeting of Protest
The entrepreneurs of Vitsebsk again ask the authorities to authorize their meeting in the place that had been specified for such actions, 30-hoddzia VLKSM Park, 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. on 29 October. About 500 individual entrepreneurs and their employees intend to take part in the action.
04.10.2007 About 30 000 Entrepreneurs on Strike
On 2 October an action of protest took place all over Belarus. It was supported by entrepreneurs of Slutsk, Svetlahorsk, Baranavichy, Rechytsa, Slonim, Pinsk, Babruisk, Vitsebsk, Pruzhany, Uzda and Barysau. The people came to their working places, but did not work. A distinct feature of the action was support from the side of entrepreneurs of large exhibition centers of Minsk.

The previous application was filed on 9 September. However, according to an activist of a republican NGO Perspective Aliaksandr Rubchenia, no answer was received from the authorities.

10.09.2007 Minsk: Meeting of Entrepreneurs in Banhalor Square
At 12 a.m. on 10 September several hundred entrepreneurs gathered for an authorized meeting in Banhalor Square of Minsk. The application for the authorization of the action had been filed by 12 activists of the Perspective entrepreneurs’ association including the heads of entrepreneurs’ councils from Minsk, Homel, Vitsebsk and other towns and cities.

As said by an initiator of the establishment of the Center for Support of Entrepreneurs Ala Hurevich, for registration of the center they need the authorities to exclude their house from the fund of residential buildings. However, Rahachou district executive committee directed the woman to Homel regional committee. Homel committee, in its turn, sent her to the department of housing economy. The department again returned her to Rahachou district executive committee.
24.08.2007 Authorities Try Pressurizing Entrepreneurs’ Leaders
The authorities responded to the recent unrest in Zhdanovichy market and to creation of self-defense committees of the entrepreneurs by pressing leaders of the entrepreneurs movement. Two leaders of the campaign For Free Development of Entrepreneurship Viktar Harbachou and Aiaksandr Tsatsura have been called to the police department.
22.08.2007 Entrepreneurs Receive Temporary Moratorium on Tax Inspections
Members of the Republican Public Association Perspective met with the deputy ministers for taxes and duties of Belarus Aliaksandr and Vasil Kamenka. The officials promised to settle the conflict which occurred today at the Zhdanovichy market and announced the monitoring moratorium for the time of the conflict settlement.
21.08.2007 Strikes at Zhdanovichy Market Continue
Around 100 trading outlets were closed today at the Mir Mody (Fashion World) trade center at the Zhdanovichy market. That was reported by one of the leaders of the Minsk entrepreneurs Aliaksandr Makayeu. He said that fur traders refused to start working. According to them, under constantly changing legislation their goods can be any time confiscated by the monitoring bodies.
20.08.2007 Spontaneous Protest of Vendors at Zhdanovichy Market
On Sunday 19 August more than 100 vendors staged a spontaneous protest at Svet Mody-3 shopping center in Zhdanovichy after tax officers decided to seize fur coats from a vendor.
