23.06.2010 Activist Ramanovich appeals civil sentence
Aliaksandr Ramanovich, BPF member and activist of the ‘For Freedom’ movement, lodged a complaint with Brest Regional Court, appealing against the decision by Pinsk District Court. On 16 June the court sentenced the activist to a BYR 1,050,000 fine for alleged ‘illegal production of printed materials’ (Par 2 of Art. 22.9 of the Civil Code).
23.06.2010 Prosecutor General dissatisfied with detention conditions
The Belarusian General Prosecutor’s Office has made a representation concerning detention conditions in the country’s penal colonies and pre-trial facilities, the Nasha Niva independent newspaper reports, quoting Prosecutor General Ryhor Vasilevich.

The FIDH and the Human Rights Center ‘Viasna’ have learned about the start of an open-ended hunger-strike by the imprisoned Mikalai Autukhovich after he was refused medical aid by the administration of Minsk’s detention center #1.

On 17 June Astravets court suspended civil proceedings against local activist Ivan Kruk, previously charged with distribution of the ‘Legal Aid to Citizens’ newsletter without output data.

The wrongly convicted prisoner of conscience has serious problems with health. This hunger strike can kill him.
Lawyer Pavel Sapelka told Radio Svaboda that Vaukavsyk businessman Mikalai Autukhovich has gone on hunger strike.
17.06.2010 Pastor’s case to be retried
Hrodna regional court reversed the verdict by Navahradak court against Uladzimir Kachahur, pastor of the ‘New Generation’ church, and ruled to initiate retrial of the case by a new judge, the press-service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy reports.
17.06.2010 Hrodna court turns down appeal by ex-candidate
On 17 June Hrodna regional court considered a claim lodged by Aleh Ramashkevich, former local council candidate, against a fine imposed on the politician for alleged posting of election leaflets in forbidden locations.
17.06.2010 Detentions on Solidarity Day
Two activists of the ‘European Belarus’ youth movement – Andrei Ilyushyn and Maksim Viniarski – were detained by the police during the Solidarity Day events on 16 June. Both activists were later released without charges.

Pinsk town court fined Aliaksandr Ramanovich, member of the BPF party and activist of the ‘For Freedom’ movement, BYR 1,050,000 for producing and distributing periodicals, Radio Racyja reports.
