24.01.2008 Aliaksandar Kruty found guilty and sent for treatment

Niasvizh court announced a verdict on the criminal case against Aliaksandar Kruty. He is found guilty of public insult of the president of the country (Article 368 of the Criminal Code). In conjunction with the fact that the actions of the defendant do not bear a big threat to the society, Aliaksandar Kruty was exempted from penalty, and the criminal case was stopped. During the investigation the defendant had to undergo forensic medical examination, which diagnosed Kruty with paranoid schizophrenia. The materials of the examination were sent to a medical institution for inpatient care.

24.01.2008 Political Prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich Released!

In the evening of January 23rd, Zmitser Dashkevich was released from Shklou prison. The political prisoner called friends from Shklou post office and said he had been released early, reports Yulia Darashkevich, Nasha Niva reporter.

An entrepreneur from Homel Uladzimir Niapomniashchy was detained by police during the protest action on January 21st. He spent the night in Akrestsina jail. Centralny and Maskouski courts of Minsk are trying the detained activists and citizens during the entrepreneurs’ rally on January 21st. The list is updated regularly.

Many of the detained have been beaten by policemen in the Central police department. They say they were beaten yesterday in the evening and today in the morning, on the way from the police station to the court. Earlier officers of the Centralny police department did not allow themselves to do that.

21.01.2008 Aleh Korban jailed for 10 days

Judge Volha Husakova sentenced Young Front activist Aleh Korban to 10 days of arrest.

Korban was detained on Saturday, January 19th, near the jail on Akrestsina Street, where he and friends were trying to register parcels for their colleagues in jail.
