Barys Khamaida, a well-known distributor of independent press in Vitsebsk, was detained in his usual place, near house #28 in Lenin Street. Policemen stated the administration of the Chyhunachny District Police Department wanted to talk to him.
11.11.2011 Vitsebsk: Aliaksandr Kirylau detained and beaten
Aliaksandr Kirylau, Chairman of the Vitsebsk branch of the Belarusian Conservative Party “Belaya Rus”, which is being created by the ex-presidential candidate Siarhei Ryzhou, was detained in the local employment center, where he was registered as an unemployed. He still cannot find a job, though he has a number of qualifications: economist, accountant, insurance agent and hairdresser. Being an orphan, Aliaksandr Kirylau has no means for life.
09.11.2011 Homel: Vasil Paliakou detained till trial
Vasil Paliakou, a member of the organizing committee of the People's Assembly in Homel, was detained after 4 p.m. on 8 November. At first he was taken to the Savetski District Police Department, and then – to a pre-trial detention center. He managed to inform his friends that he was charged under Article 23.34 of the Cofe of Administrative Offenses, “violation of the order of holding mass events”.

On 5 November teacher Heorhi Stankevich was detained in Beshankovichy while transporting self-made newspaper “Kryvinka” to regular readers by bicycle. The newspaper isn't issued periodically, as the teacher publishes it at his own expense, and has a small circulation – 290 copies.

07.11.2011 “Young Front” activists detained for attack on Communist rally
A group of young people threw eggs at the monument to Lenin and participants of the rally held by the official Belarusian Communist Party on Nezalezhnasts Square in Minsk. Activists were chanting “Stop Communism” and “Tribunal for Communism”, Nasha Niva newspaper informs. After a small clash with demonstrators, the guys were detained by plainclothes policemen.

At 3.30 p.m. Aksana Samuilava, coordinator of the civil movement “Tell the Truth!” in the Mahiliou region, was fined 875,000 rubles for “unlawful distribution of mass media without imprint”. The verdict was issued by Judge Ihlikau in Aksana’s absence (she wasn’t invited to the trial).
