08.04.2013 Mahiliou activists start collecting signatures for adoption of Law "On Public Hearings"
The campaign was launched by the activists of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) who think that the adoption of the new law will contribute to the ordering of the existing juridical terminology, will make it possible to use the law in all spheres which concern the rights of common people and prevent tensions during clashes between the interests of the state and its citizens.

Viktar Buzinayeu, the leader of the Babruisk office of the United Civil Party, was detained, together with his daughter and wife, this morning while crossing the Belarusian border on his way from Kiev to Babruisk. Ukrainian border guards have been no problems, and Belarusian interested in brochures, which lay at the side door of the car.
27.03.2013 Trial of Fair World member resumed in Zhlobin
Zhlobin District Court resumed today the trial of a member of the “Fair World” United Leftist Party Yauhen Basareuski. The trial was expected to start yesterday, March 26, but was resumed only today, after a number of witnesses failed to appear in court. The case was heard by Judge Alena Yarmolchyk.

Mahiliou Regional Court considered today an appeal lodged by local leader of the United Civil Party Uladzimir Shantsau to challenge a ban on holding a picket on December 19, 2012 imposed by the city executive committee and later upheld by Leninski District Court.

22.03.2013 BCD activist faces obstacles in proving torture report
As previously reported, on 21 April 2012 Slonim police detained local activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party Volha Pansevich. During arrest, she was badly beaten and then forced into a car and taken to the police station, where she was charged with two administrative violations – disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The activist was held in the detention center for three days, where police officers reportedly tortured her, beating the woman and using the so-called “lastochka” (“swallow”), the Human rights activists against torture campaign reports.

Members of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party Ulad Barouski, Yahen Khaziakhmetau and Andrus Sharenda held yesterday a street action in Brest within the “Wave of Solidarity” campaign. The young people were handing out leaflets about Belarusian political prisoners. They were also expected to put up white-red-white flags in central Brest, but were detained by plainclothes policemen.
