12.10.2011 Homel: Valery Sliapukhin fined a large sum of money
Valery's friends kept their duty at the entrance of the Chyhunachny District Court of Homel since morning on 11 October. The defendant was taken to the court only at 1 p.m. Judge Illia Svirydau didn't let some of the activists in the court hall, as they had to look for the room where the trial was taking place and were a bit late. As a result, political activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski filed a complaint concerning the actions of the judge and the situation when people have to look for the place of the trial.

10.10.2011 Trials over preventively detained are postponed
On 10 October the Court of the Minsk District and the City of Zaslauye started proceedings on the administrative case of Ihar Trykhanovich, who had been detained preventively short before the People's Assembly, on 8 October. He was kept in the remand prison in Skaryna Street till trial. The case was tried by Judge Minich. The trial was postponed to 13 October because of the absence of the police witnesses.

Uladzimir Katsora, an oppositionist from Homel and organizer of the People’s Assembly, was taken to the Tsentralny district police department, where a report under article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of order of holding mass events) was drawn up on him.

The Leninski District Court of Brest sentenced Vadzim Rabtsevich, member of the Belarusian Leftist Party “Fair World”, to pay a fine of 70,000 rubles (less than $10) for alleged violation of Article 23.34, part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (“violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events”).

On 6 October Siarhei Shytsikau, Judge of the Tsentralny Distrift Court of Homel, turned down the appeal of human rights defenders Anatol Paplauny and Leanid Sudalenka against the refusal of the Mahiliou City Executive Committee to authorize pickets in support of human rights defender Ales Bialiatski, who is kept under arrest on criminal charges.

On 6 October the Baranavichy City and District Court considered the administrative case of Viktar Tsiapin, who was charged under Article 23.34 (“violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events”) for taking part in the organization of the People's Assembly. Judge Aksana Sarakhman found him guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 875,000 rubles.
04.10.2011 Detained participants of picket on Svaboda Square got fined
About 20 people took part in the action that was held on 3 October in Svaboda Square. Nine of them were detained. The picket was organized by women who fell victims to grave crimes and who disagree with court decisions in their civil cases and criminal cases against their relatives. The picketers held posters “Officials must answer”, “Presidential administration is reliable guard from outrage in the country” and so on.

On 22 September, Judge Maryna Damnenka of Homel Tsentralny District Court sentenced local opposition activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski to 15 days of administrative arrest for alleged usage of foul language and resisting arrest, the BelaPAN news agency reports.

On 19 September, Judge Anatol Sotnikau of Homel Chyhunachny District Court sentenced local activists Dzmitry Shauchenka and Dzmitry Karashkou to 15 and 3 days of administrative, respectively, for alleged violation of mass events regulations, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
