09.07.2013 Slonim District Prosecutor upholds regular bans on mass events
A few weeks ago the head of the Slonim organization of the Belarusian Christian Democracy, Ivan Bedka, complained to the prosecutor of the Slonim district about the ban on a picket in support of physician Ivan Sheha. "For ten years, the Slonim District Executive Committee hasn't authorized any mass events of democratic forces in Slonim. Thereby officials routinely violate my constitutional right to peaceful assemblies," wrote Mr. Bedka.

Judge Tatsiana Palulekh of Minsk Savetski District Court sentenced today Pavel Prakapovich, activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy’s organizing committee, to a fine of 2.5 mln rubles on charges of staging an illegal picket in memory of journalist Dzmitry Zavadski.
08.07.2013 UCP activist to stand trial for protesting against Russian air base
Mikalai Hladyshau, activist of the United Civil Party, was summoned today to Leninski district police department of Mahiliou to be interrogated and charged with an administrative offence. The activist is accused of violating Article 23.34 of the Code on Administrative Offences, “violation of the order of organizing and holding mass events.”
08.07.2013 BHC petitions Supreme Court with opinion on case of death convict Ryhor Yuzepchuk
In July 2012, two inmates killed a cellmate in a prison in Mahiliou. The verdict in the case was handed down to them on April 25, 2013 by Mahiliou Regional Court. One of the prisoners, Ryhor Yuzepchuk, was sentenced to death. The appeal in the case is now subject to review by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus.

04.07.2013 Mahiliou UCP activist detained in picket against Russian air base
An activist of the United Civil Party’s Mahiliou office Mikalai Hladyshau staged today a picket to protest against the deployment of a Russian air base in Belarus, and was eventually detained by local police. After a while, he was released but told to appear at the police department later for further procedures.

26.06.2013 Slonim: BCD member summoned to Prosecutor’s Office over Freedom Day rally
Slonim police and prosecuting authorities are still seeking to interrogate activists of local pro-democratic forces who celebrated Freedom Day on March 25. The head of the Slonim office of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Ivan Bedka received a summons signed by Slonim District Prosecutor, Senior Counsellor of Justice Anatol Yaulash, urging him to appear at the Prosecutor’s Office on June 24 “in connection with the fact of the unauthorized mass event dedicated to the anniversary of the Belarus People’s Republic.”

14.06.2013 Case on defamation of BSDP to be considered by appellate court
The administration of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party and its member Mikalai Zalozny filed appeals to the Mahiliou Regional Court against a verdict of the Leninski District Court of Mahiliou, asking to reverse the verdict and return the case for review.
13.06.2013 Review of criminal case against member of "Fair World" starts at Zhlobin District Court
On 7 December 2012 Judge of the Zhlobin District Court Ina Sharshniova found a member of the Belarusian Leftist Party "Fair World" Yauhen Sharshniou to three years of imprisonment with a two-year determent, and his colleague Valiantsina Kastsiukevich – to four years of persona; restraint without sending to an open penitentiary. The defendants appealed the verdict at the Homel Regional Court, after which the case was returned for review. Basareuski and Kastsiukevich are charged under Article 424 of the Criminal Code ("abuse of power or office position").
12.06.2013 Mahiliou: Aleh Aksionau appeals KGB actions at court
Aleh Aksionau filed a complaint against the illegal activities of the Mahiliou Regional KGB Department to the Leninski District Court of Mahiliou. The activist of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy asks the court to abolish the warning, issued to him by KGB and consider the prophylactic conversation, held by a KGB officer, as illegal and unjustified.

08.06.2013 Kalinkavichy District Court punishes UCP activist Dzianis Rabianok with a fine
On 7 June the hearings on the administrative case against the activist of the United Civil Party Dzianis Rabianok finished at the Kalinkavichy District Court. He was found guilty of causing bodily injury (art.9.1 CAO) and punished with a fine of 1 million rubles.
