Participants of the drivers’ protest action are standing trial at the Tsentralny District Court of Minsk. One of the detained, Pavel Hruzdzilovich, informed about it by SMS. He didn’t specify how many detained will be there, informs Radio Liberty.
03.06.2011 Hrodna: human rights defender Rutkouskaya appeals fine
On 25 May Sviatlana Rutkouskaya, a member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee from Hrodna, was fined by the head of the Leninski District Police Department, lieutenant colonel Yauhen Yarmantovich. The matter is that Rudkouskaya, being the head of a local housing cooperative, had allegedly failed to issue the complaint book to a citizen, thus violating Article 9.24 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus.

Piotr Kuzniatsou, leader of For Freedom Homel regional office, has lodged a complaint with the Supreme Court, appealing an earlier fine for distributing leaflets back in January 2011.

17.05.2011 Pinsk resident fined for resisting fingerprinting
Pinsk resident Andrei Asavets has been fined BYR 700 for resisting compulsory fingerprinting, after he demanded to provide official grounds for the examination, the Vecherniy Brest newspaper reports.
16.05.2011 Young Front deputy leader sentenced to 15 days of arrest
Minsk Partyzanski District Court sentenced Mikola Dzemidzenka, deputy chair of the Young Front youth opposition movement, to 15 days of administrative arrest for attempting to use a white-red-white flag back on 14 May, when he was detained outside Minsk Maskouski bus terminal.
16.05.2011 Vileika: Valiantsin Susla fined for refusal from dactylography
On 13 May the Vileika District Court fined a local activist Valiantsin Susla 1,050,000 rubles for refusing to be fingerprinted, which was qualified as “insubordination to a legal order or demand or a public agent”.

On 11 May Dzmitry Uloha, Judge of the Homel Regioon Court considered the appeal of Vasil Paliakou, Chair of the Homel region organization of the United Civil Party, against the fine that had been imposed on him by the Savetski District Court of Homel, and left the previous verdict in force.

At 7 p.m. on 11 May the police detained three Navapolatsk activists, Illia Bahdanau, Viktar Kalesnik and Yauhen Parchynski, and guarded them to the Navapolatsk Town Police Department.
12.05.2011 Courts give runaround to appeal against picket ban
Mikalai Ulasevich, a civil activist from the village of Varniany (situated in the Astravets district of the Hrodna region), received a negative reply to his appeal against the ban of the anti-nuclear picket Chernobyl-Fukushima-Astravets: do we need it? The letter is singed by Aliaksandr Hrynkevich, Chair of the Hrodna Region Court. According to the document, the appeal was forwarded to the Astravets District Court.

The Stop Petrol-2 action took place on 28 April at three Minsk motorway filling stations of the Belnaftakhim concern and at other motorway filling stations in more than ten towns and cities of Belarus.
05.05.2011 Hlybokaye: democratic activist Yaraslau Bernikovich got fined
On 5 May the democratic activist Yaraslau Bernikovich was tried for “violation of the rules of holding and organizing mass actions” (Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences). The violation was that a tent was installed at the picket. The trial was lead by the Chair of the Hlybokaye District Court, Stanislau Trapuk. He fined the activist 700,000 rubles. Mr. Bernikovich admitted his guilt, but explained that he put the tent there because of bad weather.
