09.12.2010 General Procuracy threatens candidate Niakliayeu with bringing a criminal case
On 9 December the presidential candidate Uladzimir Niakliayeu received a telephone call from the General Procuracy. He was told that an official warning was issued to him for the ‘unlawful calls’ to citizens to come out to Kastrychnitskaya Square on 19 December.

Mr. Niakhai told how election fraud is taking place in Belarus. The press-service of the European Belarus civil campaign has received a letter from him which is published without changes.

During a picket near the Presidential Administration on 9 December Uladzimir Niakliayeu called all democratic candidates to withdraw from the ‘election’.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania asks for explanations in connection with statements of Belarusian officials regarding the planned construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The MFA notes Vilnius still has concerns about the environmental impact of the NPP.

09.12.2010 Review-Chronicle of Human Rights Violations in Belarus in November 2010
The stage of collecting signatures in support of the nomination of candidates for President of the Republic of Belarus ended in November. On 18 November the Central Election Commission held a sitting to register candidates. The electoral teams of 11 out of 17 pretenders for candidate stated they had passed to election commissions more than 100,000 signatures in their support. 6 pretenders decided to withdraw from the election. Uladzimir Pravalski wasn't registered as a candidate for President because, according to the CEC, he had passed only 118 valid signatures in support of his candidacy.

The artist and political activist Ales Pushkin was detained at 3.45 p.m. in his house in the settlement of Bobr of the Pukhavichy district.
09.12.2010 Vitsebsk: two electoral meetings of Vital Rymasheuski get disrupted
The agreement for the electoral meeting with workers of the TV and Radio Company Vitsebsk was received in advance. However, before its beginning the Deputy Chairperson of the company Vadzim Lapatsinski stated that it was a high security object, that’s why the candidate wouldn’t be let in and even passing the people his leaflets wouldn’t be allowed.
09.12.2010 Vitsebsk: authorities ban a picket calling to boycott the election
The Kastrychnitski District Executive Committee prohibited the member of the Conservative-Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front Yan Dziarzhautsau to hold a picket for boycotting the presidential election. The formal reason for the ban is that the picket site (Lenin Square) is allegedly occupied by the electoral picket of the presidential candidate Uladzimir Niakliayeu.
